Flip Flop Shops Flipping Into Town

ESCONDIDO ---- It's a feat for the feet of Escondido and other parts of San Diego County.

Flip Flop Shops, a purveyor of sandals and, of course, the ubiquitous flip-flop beachwear, says it will open a store in Escondido and seven other locations in the county over the next five years.

The expansion is part of a planned addition of 236 locations nationwide, the company says. It promises a "sensory overload, complete with the smell of coconut suntan oil, which is pumped through the store," along with relaxing music, a cork rubber floor and low-energy lights.

Finding the surf and sand is up to you.
